2023 is over now and 2024 has started. Time to remember what I did last year.

First of all

PAINTER BLAZER

The biggest thing last year was working on Painter Blaze. February 19th was the day that I first posted about making a game and soon I learned how to use GDevelop and since that I've been working on Painter Blazer. It is so far my biggest project I have ever done and introduced me to game developement which I find very interesting. Most of my big projects before have fell flat and I lost interest to them in a week but somehow this one I have been able to keep my interest for almost a year. Big thanks to these people who have been willing to help me with the game. @wobwobrob for making all of the music because I can't do that at all, @GGishere for being the voice of Blazer, @Nebulate for helping with a few character designs and coming up with some new ones, Sail for playtesting the game and lastly Poly for also playtesting the game.

Now for the none game dev stuff and to the less nerdy stuff.

ART PORTAL

I posted 23 finished artworks to the art portal in 2023 what a coincidence. 19 digital arts, one traditional art, two pixel arts which both were for 1-bit artapalooza collabs and one other.

Biggest art post was definitely the custom Lily Funko Pop. It was nice to give my sculpting skills a go again and I'm really happy with the end result. I had done sculpting a good amount a long time ago when I was younger.

My favorite digital artwork was Crazy Frog fangirl it was fun to try to make the background detailed but not overly detailed and hard to look at.

MOVIE PORTAL

I made my first movie portal post this year which was the Painter Blazer reveal trailer. Was fun trying to make a colored animation for the trailer and in general I find making trailers enjoyable. I should edit more videos to be honest.

OTHER STUFF

I joined @GGishere 's Newgrounder's Realm Discord server and met some cool people such as @Nebulate , @BroSkullEmoji , @Prismisho and @PachkaNG . Some cool people indeed.

My fan count went from like 80 fans to 148 fans in 2023 which is pretty cool and I ended up getting to level 25. I've been improving a bunch at what I do which I'm happy about.

That's all from 2023. Let's see what this year will bring up.

New profile picture after a year and now it's exclusive to Newgrounds. Banner is a compilation of the fanarts that I have gotten here. I'll be updating the banner every time someone draws any of my characters. One character per user though just to keep it fair.

So it's been almost two months since I posted the last development update.

First of all

THE GAME WORKS IN NEWGROUNDS!

For context a day or two ago I exported and uploaded the newest version of Painter Blazer to Newgrounds to see if it works. Since the older builds worked no problem I thought the newest would work too (those builds had a menu and three levels while this new build has the 98% finished world 1). I uploaded it here and the only things that happened were a white screen, the number 0 on it and the music playing. Nothing else happened. I was ready to scrap the Newgrounds version and uploade it to GameJolt or Ithc.io because I had no idea why it didn't work here but worked everyhwhere else that I tried. Now today I re-exported and reuploaded the build and god damn it it actually works here and it makes me unbelievably happy.

Now that I got that out of the way here are some actual updates. World 1 and the boss are finished. First cutscene is done too. @wobwobrob had made a new song for it too and @GGishere did a couple new voice lines for it. Only missing the end cutscene when it comes to world 1. Tutorial section is also done (I think). It's not big or anything but it's good to have. I have already started to make concepts for world 2 rather than keeping the ideas in my head. For world 3 I do have a theme in mind.

Concepts for two enemies that will be in world 2. You can probably guess the world theme from this.

Got a random urge to draw in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid style and then this happened.

Getting back to the speed of things again. Progress is going pretty smoothly currently. Working on new section of the game that is not world 2. I have ideas and themes for world 2 already too. Here is a peak at what I'm currently working on but not telling what it is.

Side note. I'm very happy about the reception of the reveal trailer so thank you all a ton!

It's out! Here is the first look at Painter Blazer. So far the biggest project I have ever tackled.

Painter Blazer first trailer is coming on the 9th of September

Yup that's right the trailer has a release date now. It will be released to Newgrounds, YouTube and to Instagram.

To those who don't know what Painter Blazer is, here is a quick run down. I (and a few others) have been working on an arcade game about painting. It is inspired by games such as Wrecking Crew, Antonball Deluxe, Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. It will be released in here Newgrounds.

The trailer isn't very long but I've been working on it for a while and I'm happy to be done with it.
